The Future of Transportation

It has been said that we know only 5 percent of what we will know by the year 2050, and that includes the many ways we could be transporting humans and goods. Let’s look at some of the popular predictions of how transportation may change over the next 30 years. (More after the jump)

No, Seriously: Car Lashes

The joke vehicle accessories, Carstache and Truck Nutz, have a new company moving into their territory with a product called Car Lashes. These are flexible “eye lashes” designed to be cut and pasted onto your headlights using a 3M-type double sided tape. The company is also selling a crystal “eye liner” that can be applied over top the lashes for an even greater “headlight popping” effect.

The kit retails for $24.99 for the lashes, and $19.99 for the jewel eye liner via their CarLashes Web store, which last time I checked was so packed with visitors (or should I rather say, disbelievers), their server was down for exceeding its bandwidth. Does this mean you can expect to see at least one of these on a Volkswagen Beetle before you die… I’d say almost certainly!

Check out the video.

Get Your Ford Racing Supercharger for the 5.0 Mustang

It’s here by popular demand, the Ford Racing 2.3-liter Whipple twin-screw supercharger kits for the 2011 5.0-liter Ford Mustang. You’ve got three packages to choose from:

Package 1- Practical Enthusiast Kit
For $7,199.00 ($7,799.00 polished chrome) you get the base kit, which offers an air-to-liquid intercooler, 47lb fuel injectors, manifold, drive belt, ProCal performance calibration, a 12-month/12,000 mile warranty, and 7 psi boost, which offers an improvement of 525 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque.

Package 2- Serious Enthusiast Kit
You can also step up the package an additional couple hundred to $7,499.00 ($8,099.00 polished chrome), which adds 9 psi boost, drops the warranty, and offers a whopping 624 horsepower and 536 lb-ft torque.

Package 3- Tuner Kit
Finally, you can save a couple bucks ($6,499.00 black, $7,099.00 polished chrome) and opt for the tuner package, which includes all the core components (supercharger, intake manifold, intercooler, drive belt), leaving the computer tuning to the individual.

Of course, you could also wait for the individual supercharger companies to come out with their own kits (the ProCharger’s on its way), which will likely pose a better price point and higher horsepower configurations. The only problem will be keeping those damn ants in your pants comatose long enough for that to happen. Good luck!
