#5 – Carticipate – This app brings together commuters into a large social network of people who are trying to save money on gas while helping out the environment by sending less emissions into the air. Users can search locations near their area of residence or place of business for rides. The app can be used internationally as well with configurations in English, German, Italian, Spanish and Dutch.

#4- iGasUp – This $2.99 app can be downloaded to give users the 10 closest locations based on the phone’s location. It gives you gas station addresses and current prices. iGasUp gets its information from the Oil Price Information Service and it has a network of 110,000 filling stations across the U.S.

#3- Trapster – is an app that shows your location on a map via the iPhone’s WiFi capabilities and also shows all speed traps, police hang-outs speed cameras or stop-light cameras in the area. The info is entered into Trapster’s network database by the 330,000 users worldwide. Trapster’s users can receive voice alerts of approaching speed traps or the other previously mentioned traps. There are a reported 196,000 speed traps worldwide and you can find out about them all with this FREE app!

#2-TripAlyzer – This is an app that allows users to track their driving habits. It tracks how efficiently you use your fuel, how effective your hypermiling habits are and how much each driving trip cost you. You can store the data for future use. It’s intended to help you drive more efficiently and cut down on CO2 emmissions. You can purchase it for $5.99.

#1- Dynolicious – This is the app for all you racer’s out there. It’s basically a radar gun, dynamometer, and drag strip timing mechanism all rolled into one. It gives you the ability to measure your quarter mile times and trap speeds, lateral g-forces, 0-60 times and speeds, braking g-forces and horsepower. This app is $12.99 so it’s one of the pricier apps out there but with an average rating of four stars it’s apparently worth it!
