In a series of all-out performance tests, conducted by TestPilots Independent Testing Services at the Toyota Speedway in Irwindale, California, an Eibach Pro-Plus-equipped 2010 Camaro SS outperformed the same car in stock configuration in nearly every performance phase: 0-60 acceleration, all-out lateral g, braking, slalom and a short, twisty road course.
The stock 2010 Camaro SS is built for go, not show, with its 400 horsepower, 6.2-liter aluminum V8, six-speed tranny, 4-wheel independent suspension, 4-piston Brembo brakes and big 20-inch alloy wheels.Baseline performance tests with the showroom-stock Camaro SS were conducted in the morning, using state-of-the-art electronic instrumentation. Then, the bone-stock Camaro SS was quickly transformed on site, using off-the-shelf Eibach Pro-Kit (part# 38144.140) progressive lowering springs and Eibach Anti-Roll Kit (part# 38144.320) sway bars. TestPilots observed the process and certified that no other changes were made to the vehicle.
The one test that showed no improvement was in braking from 60 to 0. Hubinette preferred the firmer feel of the SS in Eibach-equipped form, but the numbers in all-out stops were essentially equal. To learn more about the Eibach Camaro Shoot-Out, check out the video at www.eibach.com.
