Tesla Motors to build plant in Downey, CA

Tesla Motors is moving into Downey! It’s chosen the So. Cal city to house its manufacturing facility for the Model S. Downey actually beat out Long Beach for the plant. Downey Mayor Mario Guerra said that Tesla will be producing automobiles at the future plant come 2011. Tesla Motors is using the millions of dollars loaned to them from the Department of Energy well; they will also open a second facility, planned for Northern California, that will produce battery packs for Tesla as well as other vehicle manufacturers.
